Diplomat Pradeep Kumar Rawat has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to China. Rawat (Indian Foreign Services, 1990) is presently the Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of the Netherlands and is expected to take up his new assignment shortly. Pradeep Rawat has been serving as the envoy to the Netherlands since January 2021.

Panama Papers leak came in news on April 3, 2016 after a German newspaper Suddeutsche Zeitung published a report on the same. Panama Papers case is a massive leak of 11.5 million documents from a Panamanian law firm - Mossack Fonseca- that reveal how its clients were able to launder money, dodge sanctions and avoid tax.

Gabriel Boric, leftist lawmaker and former student activist has won Chile's Presidential Elections 2021. He beat right-wing candidate Jose Antonio Kast in Chile's presidential runoff with 56 percent votes on December 19, 2021, becoming Chile's youngest President ever.
4. (a) World Economic Forum
The World Economic Forum annual meeting 2022 will be postponed due to the continued uncertainty over the Omicron outbreak. The WEF meeting was scheduled to take place in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland between January 17-21, 2022
5. (a) Nagaland
The Nagaland Assembly on December 20, 2021, unanimously passed a resolution demanding the repeal of AFSPA in Nagaland. The resolution for the removal of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act was adopted during a special session that was held in aftermath of the botched security ambush that claimed the lives of 14 civilians earlier in December 2021. Massive protests have been held in the Capital, Kohima, with the Nagaland cabinet also recommending the repeal of the law.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the Ganga Expressway project in Shahjahanpur district, Uttar Pradesh on December 19, 2021. The Prime Minister said during his inaugural address that the Ganga expressway will open new avenues of development to the region and for Jawan and Kisan of Uttar Pradesh this will be an expressway of infinite opportunities.
7. (b) Yash Dhull
The All-India Junior Selection Committee on December 19, 2021, announced the Indian squad for ICC Under -19 Men’s World Cup 2022. The U-19 World Cup will be played from January 14 to February 2, 2022, in West Indies across the four host countries. Yash Dhull will lead the Under-19 Indian Squad in World Cup 2022 to retain the past successful streak of winning the World Cup titles.
8. (b) December 24th
NASA has confirmed that the Webb Space Telescope Launch will take place on December 24, 2021. The launch has been much awaited, as there were previous short delays. The telescope is a massive project that started in 2003 in a form of an international partnership with NASA, European and Canadian space agencies.
