Indian Armed Forces Flag Day is observed every year on December 7 in the country to honour the martyrs and the soldiers in uniform who heroically fight and continue to protect the country’s borders and honour. 

2.(a) Russia

India and Russia signed record 28 MoUs and agreements on December 6, 2021 in different sectors including defence, trade, energy, education, cultural exchange,outer space, intellectual property and geological exploration. The agreements were signed during the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin for the 21st India-Russia annual summit.

3.(a) US

US President Joe Biden's administration has decided not to send an official US delegation to the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing in a symbolic protest against China's ongoing genocide and crimes against humanity in Xinjiang. The US athletes will still participate in the Winter Olympics, but US government officials will not be attending the event.

4.(b) India

India is hosting a two-day cyber security seminar for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) countries in New Delhi on December 7-8,2021. The seminar will see participation from representatives of all SCO member states including Russia, China, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan. Pakistan has confirmed the participation of its delegation. 

5.(c) Sunil Arora

Former Chief Election Commissioner of India, Sunil Arora has been invited to join the Board of Advisers for International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA). IDEA has a 15-member board of advisers, all of whom are eminent personalities from a wide variety of backgrounds.

The 4th Asia Youth Para Games (AYPG) were Bahrain’s biggest Para sport event ever, which took place from December 2 to December 6, 2021. The event saw participation from around 750 Para athletes under 23 years of age from 30 countries around the world.

The Indian para shuttlers finished their campaign at the 4th Asia Youth Para Games with 15 medals against their name, which includes 4 Gold, 7 Silver and 4 Bronze. Tokyo Paralympian Palak Kohli, Hardik Makkar and Sanjana Kumari won three medals each.

The day also aims to throw light on the unique role of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) in helping States to cooperate and realize a global rapid transit network at the service of all mankind.
