Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the 'Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari' initiative in Surat, Gujarat through video conferencing. Under this initiative, around 24,800 rainwater harvesting structures are being constructed across the state with community participation.

In wrestling, Indian wrestler Jyoti Berwal won the gold medal in the women's 76 kg freestyle category at the U20 World Championships in Pontevedra, Spain. Jyoti won the match in the final without giving Ukraine's Maria Orlevich a chance to score even a single point.

The Ministry of Panchayati Raj and UNICEF India signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to collaborate on strengthening systems and engaging communities for social change.
