1.(b) Punjab
Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has ordered lockdown on public holidays and weekends. All citizens except for those workers in essential service including medical staff will be required to apply for e-pass for movement these days. 

2.(a)UK
India has asked the UK government to not consider any request for asylum made by fugitive businessman Vijay Mallya. India stated that there are no grounds for the fugitive businessman to be persecuted back home as alleged by him in his plea. The news came after a British High Commission spokesperson said that a legal issue remains to be resolved before Mallya could be extradited to India.

3.(d) Uttar Pradesh
The Uttar Pradesh government launched a state-level sample collection campaign on June 12, 2020 to find out the level of corona infection among the different sections of society. Under the one-week campaign, various clusters of the society will be tested including delivery boys, newspaper vendors and other daily workers. 

4.(b)Delhi HC
The Delhi High Court has ordered setting up of a committee of doctors to visit two proposed hotels, Surya Hotel and Crown Plaza and submit a report on the feasibility of the hotels being used as extended COVID hospitals.

The United Kingdom’s economy shrank by record 20.4 percent in April, amid strict lockdown to combat COVID-19, revealed official data on June 12, 2020. The record slump in the economy is likely to be the low point before a long and slow recovery, as Britain readies to open up its economy.

The World Day Against Child Labour was observed on June 12, 2020. The day's theme this year is 'COVID-19: Protect children from child labour, now more than ever', which aims to focus on the impact of crisis on child labour.

Indian-American Soil Scientist Dr. Rattan Lal has won the 2020 World Food Prize on June 11 for mainstreaming and developing a soil centric approach in order to increase food production that conserves natural resources and mitigates climate change.

The Jammu and Kashmir administration has constituted special task forces on Power Sector reforms and Bank Finance, Credit revival and Growth for the implementation of the initiatives, schemes & relief measures under Atma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan.
