1. (a) Iran 

Iran has become a full member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO). Iran was so far participating in SCO meetings as an observer nation, a status that it had acquired in June 2005. It had applied for full membership of the bloc first in 2008 and then again in 2010 but both times it was not successful. 

2. (a) Karnataka

The Karnataka Assembly on September 21, 2021 passed the Karnataka Police (Amendment) Bill banning online gambling or betting in the state. Those found guilty will face maximum imprisonment of three years and a penalty up to Rs one lakh.

3. (c) September 23rd 

The International Day of Sign Languages is observed every year on September 23. The day brings attention to the linguistic identity of the people who are deaf as well as the other users of sign languages. There is also an international sign language that is used by deaf people in international meetings and while traveling and socialising.

4. (d) Delta 

Delta variant of COVID-19 is by far the world's most dominant variant, surpassing other variants of concern-alpha, beta and gamma, informed World Health Organization’s (WHO) technical lead Maria Van Kerkhove on September 22, 2021.

India will become the world’s 3rd largest importer by 2050 with a share of 5.9 percent of global imports, following China and the United States (US), as per a new report titled Global Trade Outlook by the UK's Department of International Trade.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on September 18, 2021, authorized a single booster dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine Comirnaty for those aged 65 and older and adults at high risk of severe diseases or high-exposure jobs.

Samyukth Kisan Morcha has called for a Bharat Bandh on September 27, 2021 to give new strength to the ongoing farmers' agitation against the three central farm laws.
