Daniel Ortega was elected as the President of Nicaragua in January 2012 after sweeping away the November 2011 polls.

Daniel Ortega in January 2012 was elected as the President of Nicaragua for the third time. He was elected to the post of the President after registering a landslide victory in the November 2011 polls.

Ortega received 62 percent votes in the polls that concluded in November 2012, which helped his party the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN) to mark majority in the unicameral legislature.

•    Daniel Ortega Saavedra is the President of Nicaraguan ruled the country as its President for two complete terms 1985 to 1990 and 2007 to 2011 respectively. At present he was appointed as the President of Nicaraguan for his third term.
•    He is the leader of the socialist Sandinista National Liberation Front
