Namo Bharat Train Launched: Great News for Meerut Commuters; Travel to Delhi in Under 40 Minutes!

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a 13-kilometer section of the Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor on Sunday. This new stretch includes a 6-kilometer underground segment and highlights the key Anand Vihar station.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially inaugurated a 13-kilometer segment of the Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor on Sunday. The corridor connects Sahibabad in Uttar Pradesh to New Ashok Nagar in Delhi.

During the event, Narendra Modi engaged with children and other passengers, while riding the Namo Bharat train from Sahibabad station to New Ashok Nagar station.

Namo Bharat Trains in Delhi

The Delhi section's inauguration brings Namo Bharat trains to the national capital, further expanding the RRTS network.

There are now 11 stations along the 55-kilometer RRTS circuit that runs from New Ashok Nagar to Meerut South. For passenger service, trains started operating every 15 minutes from 5 p.m.

Namo Bharat Trains: Ticket Price

Check the the ticket prices of the Namo Trains between New Ashok Nagar (Delhi) and Meerut South:

  • Premium Coach: ₹225
  • Regular Coach: ₹150

This comes after the 17-kilometer priority stretch between Sahibabad and Duhai Depot was inaugurated on October 20 of last year.

Key Features of New Namo Train Routes

The new section includes a 6 km underground stretch, featuring the prominent Anand Vihar station. This station serves as a major transit hub, connecting:

  • A bus terminal
  • A railway station
  • Delhi Metro's Blue and Pink Lines

Additionally, it will be the first time Namo Bharat trains run on a stretch of Delhi's underground system. The Delhi Metro's Blue Line will be interchanged with the New Ashok Nagar RRTS station.

Delhi to Meerut in 40 Mins

Delhi and Meerut are now completely connected, reducing travel time by a third with the opening of the new RRTS segment. Now, commuters have a quicker and more effective way to get from New Ashok Nagar to Meerut South, taking less than 40 minutes.

  • Total Length: 82 kilometers from Modipuram in Meerut to Sarai Kale Khan in New Delhi
  • Stations:
    • 16 Namo Bharat stations
