Encephalitis Disease Gripped Children in Magadh, Bihar

The disease is caused by Japanese Encephalitis virus. The symptoms of encephalitis include headache, fever, convulsions, drowsiness, fatigue and the inflammation of the brain.

In the Magadh division of Bihar an outbreak of viral encephalitis claimed the lives of 82 children since August 2011. A fresh death was reported on 13 November 2011.

During the period from August 2011 Magadh division's only government hospital, the Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College Hospital swamped with 383 cases of encephalitis, with an average of six cases pouring in each day.
