Gagan Narang won the 50m Rifle 3 Position men's event at the 55th National Shooting Championships on 22 November 2011. The 55th National Shooting Championships concluded at Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Pune on 22 November 2011.
Gagan had to earlier settle for silver in the air rifle and rifle prone events. However, during the 50m Rifle 3 Position men's event he achieved his personal best of 1,272 points, much above his World Cup-winning score (1,264) in Korea in 2009 and the gold medal effort at the Commonwealth Games (1,262.2) in Delhi in 2010.
The Khel Ratna winner finished almost 15 points ahead of silver medallist Sanjeev Rajput.
Navy's Omkar Singh on the other hand survived a scare to take home the 10m Air Pistol men's gold with a score of 676.6, ahead of Vivek Singh by one-tenth of a point.
