The Haryana government announced on July 17, 2024, that the state government will provide a 10% horizontal reservation for Agniveers in direct recruitment for the posts of constable, mining guard, forest guard, jail warden, and SPO (Special Police Officer). 

This move is intended to secure the future of Haryana soldiers who are recruited as Agniveers for a period of four years.

Reservation for Agniveer 

As per the announcement, the Haryana government has announced a direct reservation for Agniveers who have served the army for four years but were not inducted into the armed forces. 

  • 5% horizontal reservation for Agniveers for Group-C Civil Posts.
  • 1% horizontal reservation for Group-B Civil Jobs.
  • Three-year relaxation in the maximum age limit for Group B and C jobs.
  • Five-year age relaxation for Agniveer’s first batch.

Financial Benefit to Agniveers

The Haryana Government has further promised financial assistance to Agniveers or the industry who will be recruiting them.

  • An interest-free loan of up to 5 Lakh to Agniveers starting their own business.
  • Rs 60,000 yearly subsidy to industrial businesses paying Agniveers a salary over Rs 30,000 per month.
  • Arms permits will be issued to Agniveers in order of priority.

Reservation for Agniveers in Central Security Forces

Earlier the chiefs of the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) said last week that 10 percent of posts of soldiers would be reserved for former Agniveers in their respective forces. This reservation is in line with a decision by the Union Home Ministry.

At the time, a Ministry of Defence (MoD) official had told the media that no physical test would be required for recruiting former Agniveers into paramilitary forces. Instead, they would just need a physical fitness certificate.  

Free Training for Agniveers in Madhya Pradesh

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced that the state will offer 360 hours of free training to young people interested in joining the Agniveer scheme. 

CM Yadav made this announcement during the Employment Day program in the state. Each batch of youth enrolled in the Agniveer Yojana will receive 360 hours of free training.

Financial Assistance in Assam

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma declared that under the Assam Arogya Nidhi program, the state government will provide preference to individuals who return from the Agnipath scheme after completing their four years of service. 

Assam Arogya Nidhi program offers BPL households and families with monthly incomes under ₹10,000 financial support up to ₹1,50,000 for complete medical treatment.

Priority in UP Police Recruitment

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has already made the announcement on giving priority to the Agniveer recruits in the state police vacancies and other departments. 

Preference in Subsidy Programs in Arunachal Pradesh

Chief Minister Pema Khandu declared that Agniveers will be given preference in state police positions and in government subsidy programs. 

"Those wanting to start their own enterprise for Aatmanirbhar Arunachal will get preference under all credit-linked subsidy schemes of the state government," said the chief minister.
