Health Insurance Policy Launched by Star Health

Star Health on 5 January 2011 launched a health insurance policy, Star Unique Health that starts covering pre-existing diseases just after 11 months after a customer buys the policy. The new policy from the Star Health stable is in contrast with the other products in the market, where the insured has to wait for about four years for the policies to begin covering diseases that existed prior to the purchase of insurance. Star Unique Health can be taken by people in the 18 to 65 age bracket. The policy will cover all pre-existing diseases except cancer and renal disorders, and is available for Rs 1 lakh, Rs 2 lakh and Rs 3 lakh covers. The insured will be paid only 50 per cent of the cover sum if an ailment arises out of a pre-existing disease.

Star Health also launched another policy, Star Wedding Gift that has been designed keeping the newly-weds in mind. The newly-weds will after three years of purchase of the policy will get a cover for all child birth related expenses as well as any congenital diseases of the child. The policy will also provide for medical insurance for the parents and the children.
