Hurricane Sandy a Category 2 Cyclone Struck US, Jamaica, Haiti and Cuba

Sandy: is the name given to the category 2 Cyclone that struck US, Jamaica, Haiti and Cuba, and was formed in the late Hurricane season of 2012. Sandy was created from the elongated tropical wave that occurred in the Western Caribbean Sea on 22 October 2012.

Hurricane Sandy is one of the fiercest storms to hit the East Coast of Massachusetts on 29 October 2012 and it gave a devastating look to the city leaving behind the torrential rains, with widespread flood and howling winds. The dangerous high rise in the sea along with the flooded coastal areas saw a huge power cut in 385000 homes.

The name Sandy has been provided to the hurricane following the nomenclature set in an alphabetical order by the US authority National Hurricane Center for naming the hurricanes that arises in the North Atlantic Ocean. World Meteorological Organization maintains a list of names for naming the Hurricanes that occurs round the year. This list keeps on rotating on the yearly basis.
