T20 World Cup viewership 2021: The International Cricket Council (ICC) on November 25, 2021, announced that India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup Super 12 which was held in Dubai has set a new record for the most views with 15.9 billion minutes in India alone.
The highly anticipated cricket match between India and Pakistan garnered a record viewership of 167 million, making it the most viewed T20I till date. Nearly 10,000 hours of live coverage was offered across the digital platforms and TV in 200 countries for the entire T20 tournament.
The T20 match between the arch-rivals India and Pakistan had proved to be a one-sided affair, however, it didn’t deter the fans from the match as they consumed 15.9 billion minutes on the Star India Network.
The mega viewership of the T20 match has surpassed the previous high of the semi-final between India and West Indies from the 2016 edition of the ICC event which was held in India.
ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 was held in the United Arab Emirates. The T20 tournament had started on October 17, 2021, and the final took place on November 14, with Australia beating New Zealand by eight wickets to win their first T20 World Cup.

T20 World Cup: Increase in overall consumption of T20 tournament
• The overall TV consumption for the whole T20 tournament in India was recorded at 112 billion minutes. This is despite the Indian cricket team’s early exit from the tournament.
• In the United Kingdom, the total viewership for the India-Pakistan T20 match grew by 60% on Sky UK whereas the overall viewership for the market had gone up by 7%.
• T20 cricket tournament in Pakistan was broadcast by three media players for the very first time. It further led to the growth in viewership of the cricket matches by 7.3% in comparison to the 2016 edition of the event.
• The consumption of the event across digital assets also increased as it recorded a total of 2.55 billion minutes.
• The social media channels of the International Cricket Council also recorded significant growth in engagement at 618 million across those platforms. It is a 28% jump since the 2019 edition of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.
ICC’s partnership with Facebook
The partnership between ICC and Facebook also played a key role in an increase in video views, with a total of 4.3 billion views across all the channels for the T20 cricket tournament.
