Indian cueist Laxman Rawat was denied the necessary visa as he had insufficient money in his bank account. The fact that it would be Laxman’s maiden foreign trip - too played a big role in the cueist being denied the visa. As a result Laxman will not be able to participate in the World Under-21 Snooker Championship at Montreal (Canada) despite being ranked No. 1 in the national camp held in Bangalore in April 2011 and being selected in the national squad.
Laxman had attached a Government of India letter with the visa application. The letter from the government had clearly stated that all expenses including airfare, lodging and boarding, would be borne by the government. Laxman's purpose of visit failed to impress the Canadian High Commission.
The championship scheduled to be played from 12 to 23 July 2011. Three players picked for the event. Laxman was one of thethem. Varun Madan and Robin D'souza were the two other players picked for the event.
