An Indian management scholar Jitendra Vir Singh on 25 May 2014 was appointed as the Dean of the School of Business and Management at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST).
The appointment was based on an open and competitive worldwide search. He will take the charge on 1 September 2014.
About Jitendra Vir Singh
He is an Indian Institute Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) alumnus who completed his MBA in 1975.
He received his PhD degree from Stanford University in 1983 and was awarded an MA (honoris causa) degree by University of Pennsylvania.
He joined Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania as a faculty in 1987 to become the Vice-Dean of International Academic Affairs in 1998.
As Wharton's Vice-Dean, International Academic Affairs, from 1998 to 2001, Singh contributed to the establishment of the Singapore Management University in Singapore, the worldwide alliance between Wharton and INSEAD, and the foundation of the Indian School of Business in Hyderabad.
He is currently the Saul P Steinberg Professor of Management at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania in the US.
