The Ministry of Home Affairs has approved subsidized helicopter flights on the new Jammu-Poonch-Mendhar route, with an additional option for the Jammu-Mendhar service. This information was shared by an official by referring to an email from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
Subsidy Application and Budget Allocation
The MHA has advised the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory administration to apply for the subsidy within the approved budget. The new helicopter service is part of efforts to improve connectivity in remote and inaccessible areas, as stated by Jammu and Kashmir Civil Aviation Secretary, Mohammad Aijaz Asad.
Enhanced Connectivity for Remote Areas
The subsidized service aims to provide better transportation options for people in isolated areas like Poonch and Mendhar. According to Mr. Asad, the service will improve accessibility in regions with challenging terrain, particularly during the difficult winter months.
Benefits for Residents and Emergency Services
Mr. Asad highlighted the significant advantages the service will bring:
- Improved Transport: Faster and more efficient travel for Mendhar residents and surrounding communities.
- Medical Assistance: Enhanced access to emergency medical services, enabling faster patient evacuation when needed.
- Convenience and Infrastructure: Better air connectivity will contribute to improved infrastructure and travel convenience across Jammu and Kashmir.
Move will Boost Tourism in J&K
In addition to helping residents, the new service will open up new opportunities for border tourism in the Mendhar sector. “This initiative not only connects remote locations but also sets the stage for promoting tourism in areas with beautiful landscapes,” added Mr. Asad.
The new helicopter service is expected to significantly enhance transportation and quality of life for the people of the region.
