Japanese Scientists: La Nina Weakened in March 2011

The Regional Institute for Global Change (RIGC), which is under the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology, stated that the La Nina in the east equatorial Pacific has weakened in March 2011.

 
The La Nina caused flooding in many parts of the world including Pakistan and India during 2010. The institute maintained a normal to slightly above normal forecast for the Indian monsoon in the year 2011. Parts of northeast India and east-central India will experience below-normal to normal precipitation this year.
