Justice Sunil Kumar Sinha on 30 March 2015 was appointed as the Chief Justice of the Sikkim High Court (HC). He was appointed by the President Pranab Mukherjee in accordance with the Article 217 (1) of the Constitution of India.
He assumed the charge of the office of Chief Justice of Sikkim HC on the date he was appointed.
Before this appointment he was serving as the acting Chief Justice of the Sikkim HC since October 2014. He became a Judge in the Sikkim HC in July 2014.
As per the provisions of the Article 217 (1) of the constitution of India, the president of India appoints chief justice of a high court after consultation with the Chief Justice of India and the Governor of the State and he will be in the office till he attains 62 years.
About Justice Sunil Kumar Sinha
• He enrolled himself as an advocate in the State Bar Council of Madhya Pradesh in 1980.
• In May 2003 he was appointed as an Additional Advocate General of Chhattisgarh.
• In December 2004 he was appointed as a Judge of the High Court of Chhattisgarh.
