Lanco Solar, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lanco Infratech, bagged Rs 885-crore contract from Maharashtra State Power Generation Company to build a solar power project in the state. The 75-mw photovoltaic solar power project was awarded to a consortium of Lanco Solar and Juwi Renewable India. The projects to be located at Dhule are expected to be fully commissioned by February 2012. The project value is Rs 884.18 crore. The project would be fully commissioned by mid-February 2012.
Lanco group aims to achieve 300-mw solar power generation capacity and win contracts to set up other 300-500 mw solar plants in the next two years. Lanco Solar signed agreements with NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam under national solar mission and Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam to set up 141-mw solar plants.
The company is currently setting up a facility in Chhattisgarh for manufacture of polysilicon ingots, wafers and modules.
