The government has taken important steps to improve cybersecurity in the country by launching several new programs. Home Minister Amit Shah highlighted that cyber crimes have no boundaries and national security cannot be ensured without strong cyber protection.
Key actions include training 5,000 'cyber commandos', creating an online data registry, starting a portal to share information about cyber crimes, and building a national registry of suspects to stop future crimes. The deployment of 'cyber commandos' will play a major role in improving the country’s digital security.
What is “Cyber Commando” Initiative?
Under the 'Cyber Commando' program, a special team of trained experts will be created in States, Union Territories, and Central Police Organisations like the CBI to handle cyber security threats. These cyber commandos will support both state and central agencies in protecting the digital space.
During the first foundation day of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), Home Minister Amit Shah also announced the launch of a Cyber Fraud Mitigation Centre (CFMC).
This centre will include representatives from major banks, financial companies, payment services, telecom providers, IT companies, and law enforcement agencies. Together, they will be ready to respond to online financial crimes quickly.
Samanvay Platform: Cyber Criminal Database
The government announced the creation of a suspects' registry through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP) in partnership with banks and financial institutions. This will help improve fraud prevention in India's financial system.
Additionally, the government launched the Samanvay Platform, a web-based system designed to store and share data to help with joint cybercrime investigations.
How to Become a Cyber Commando?
In the new initiative of tackling the increasing cyber crime in India, the Central government is planning to deploy 5,000 'cyber commandos'. The plan is to enhance the nation's cyber security.
A new opportunity has emerged for young people with this initiative. If you're eager to be part of it, you can sign up for specialized training programs provided by both central and state governments.
These programs will equip you with skills in cyber security, crime investigation, and data analysis, helping you qualify as a cyber commando.
