In Madhya Pradesh, the state government on 10 September 2013 decided to constitute a State Disaster Emergency Response Force.This force will deal with any calamity in effective manner and provide immediate relief to affected persons.
Initially, the State Disaster Emergency Response Force will be set up in Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior and Jabalpur districts. 100 jawans will be deployed in each of these districts. A State Command Centre will be opened at Bhopal where 150 jawans will be deployed.
The State Cabinet has granted sanction for 550 jawans and 132 officer-level post for the force. The state government has also decided to set up State Industrial Security Force to ensure effective security of industries and establishments. Initially, 2 battalions will be raised at Singrauli and Rewa.
