Number of Indian Students Applying for UK Visa Increased by 20 Percent in 2013

As per the latest figured of University and Colleges Admissions Services (UCAS) revealed on 30 January 2013, there is an increase of 20 percent in number of Indian students that applied for higher studies in United Kingdom in 2013 in comparison to 2012. This is the third highest increase among various countries. The first two countries that witnessed an increase include Malaysia and Italy where there was an increase of 25 percent and 22 percent respectively.

However, if absolute numbers are kept into considerations, China topped the list with 6903 applications or 9.9 percent increase. 2610 students from India, on the other hand applied for studies in UK in 2013 against 2188 in 2012. The number of Indian students applying for studies in UK can increase even more because the last date for applying is 30 June 2013.

UCAS figures revealed that students from outside European Union also increased by 9.6 percent in 2013. According to the Immigration Minister, there as an increase in the number of Indian and Chinese students who applied for courses at the British universities as well as the colleges.

The applications received by the British colleges from across the world:

•Chinese students- 6903 (9.9 percent increase over 2012)
•Irish students- 5452 (0.3 percent increase over 2012)
•Hong Kong students- 5046 (1 percent increase over 2012)
•Singaporean students- 3457 (6.8 percent increase over 2012)
•French students- 3382 (6.2 percent increase over 2012)
•Malaysian students- 3233 (24.8 percent increase over 2012)
•German students- 2753 (6.5 percent fall over 2012)
•American students- 2713 (14 percent increase over 2012)
