PM Modi on November 23, 2020 inaugurated multi-storeyed flats for the Member of Parliament at Dr B D Marg via video conferencing. The Lok Sabha speaker, Om Birla, was also present on the occasion.
According to an official release, eight old bungalows which were more than 80 years old have been redeveloped by the authorities to construct 76 flats. These flats have been constructed with the savings of about 14 per cent from the sanctioned cost and without any time overrun despite of the effects of COVID-19.

In his address, Prime Minister Modi highlighted that long-pending issues are resolved by looking for solutions. He noted that not only MPs residence but there have been some other projects also that were pending since years.

Green building initiatives in construction of flats:
Several green building initiatives have been incorporated while constructing the flats for MPs. It includes:
• Bricks made from demolition waste, fly ash and construction.
• Double gazed windows for energy efficiency and thermal insulation.
• LED light fittings that are energy efficient.
• Occupancy-based sensors for light control.
• Air conditioners that have VRV systems for low power consumption.
• Construction of low flow fixtures for water conservation.
• Rooftop solar plant.
• Rainwater harvesting system.
