Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on 17 January 2018 inaugurated the iCREATE facility at Deo Dholera Village in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that innovation has a key role to play in bringing the people of India and Israel closer to each other and cooperation between the two nations for innovation in areas such as food, water, health and energy would help write a new chapter in the history of mankind in the 21st century.
The Prime Minister then spoke about the youth of India, on how they have the required energy and enthusiasm and just need a bit of encouragement and institutional support. He also congratulated the courageous youth who are engaged in innovative activities at iCreate.
Further, he said that the government is working to make the entire system innovation-friendly to enable generation of ideas, which will, in turn, lead to innovation and finally help create a New India.
iCreate is an independent Centre created with the aim of facilitating entrepreneurship through a blend of creativity, innovation, engineering, product design and leveraging emerging technologies to deal with major issues such as food security, water, connectivity, cyber security, IT and electronics, energy, bio-medical equipment and devices.
• The primary goal of the Centre is to create a large number of quality entrepreneurs.
• To achieve the objective, the centre aims to develop a new culture where people will understand and encourage entrepreneurship as a preferred career option.
• Besides this, it will also engage with the government to help evolve enabling policies.
