Railway Ministry on 7 February 2012 extended the time period for the advance booking of Railway tickets from 90 days to 120 days. This new reservation policy will come into effect from March 10, 2012.
No change has been proposed for daytime trains such as the Taj Express and Gomti Express. The advance reservation periods for these trains are 15 days and it will remain unchanged. There will also be no change in case of the limit of 360 days for foreign tourists.
The Indian Railways carry approximately 30 million passengers everyday and the move of increasing the advance reservation period will help the commuters to plan their journey better.
