India Current Affairs 2011. Rajasthan Government's Social Justice and Empowerment Department established child protection units in each district

The Rajasthan Government's Social Justice and Empowerment Department established child protection units in each district in June 2011. The units were established in accordance with an announcement made in the 2011-12 State budget for ensuring better implementation of programmes and compliance with the laws on children's rights.

According to Director (Social Justice and Empowerment) T. Ravikant, a decision in this regard was taken in February 2011 with an objective to speed up implementation of the Integrated Child Protection Scheme. It would especially facilitate proper care of orphan and destitute children.

The district units would accord the highest priority to security and rehabilitation of abandoned, homeless and orphan children. The units would work under the administrative control of District Collectors.
