Ramlubhya retired IAS officer was appointed as Rajasthan State Election Commissioner on 24 September 2013. He was succeeded by A K Pandey. He will assume the office from 1 October 2013.
He previously worked as Additional Chief Secretary in the Water Resources department of Rajasthan.
About State Election Commission
Under Article 243K and 243ZA of the Constitution of India, the State Election Commission is vested with powers of superintendence, direction and control of the preparation of Electoral Rolls and the conduct of all elections to the Panchayati Raj Institutions PRIs) and Urban Local Bodies(ULBs).
Composition of the State Election Commission:State Election Commission is a single member body consisting of the State Election Commissioner.
Who appoints the State Election Commissioner?
According to the Constitution of India article 243k the Governor of the State appoints the State Election Commissioner.
