The Ramnath Goenka Awards for Excellence in Journalism were awarded to 31 winners in 29 categories on 22 July 2010. The prizes were given out by President Pratibha Patil in New Delhi. The award carries a prize money of Rs 2.5 lakhs and is given in recognition of the journalist's maintenance of work ethics, accuracy and fairness of work. The Ramnath Goenka Awards entered the fourth year and this year three new categories were added: On-the-spot Reporting (Print & Broadcast), Investigative Reporting (Print and Broadcast) and Commentary and Interpretative Writing (Print).
Two books were released by the Express group on the occasion: ‘Idea Exchange’ which is a collection of 47 interviews with top thinkers and opinion makers published in The Sunday Express and ‘Prize Stories’ which contains the Award-winning stories of 2008-09.

- Journalism of Courage: Vijay Pratap Singh (Posthumously)
- Journalism Awards for Hindi (Print): Geetashree, Outlook
- Journalism Awards for Hindi (Broadcast): Abhisar Sharma, Aaj Tak
- Regional Languages (Print): Abhijit Vasant Ghorpade, Loksatta
- Regional Languages (Broadcast): Chunduri Venkata Satyanarayana, TV-9
- Environmental Reporting (Print): Varghese C. Thomas, Malayala Manorama
- Environmental Reporting (Broadcast): Amey Vitthaldas Tirodkar, IBN Lokmat
