Rear Admiral Sanjay Mahindru took charge as Flag Officer Submarines

Rear Admiral Sanjay Mahindru on 25 September 2015 took charge as Flag Officer Submarines. He succeeded Rear Admiral SV Bokhare.

As the Flag Officer Submarines, he will oversee the operations of INS Chakra S71- the lone nuclear powered submarine of the Navy, 10 Sindhughosh class submarines and 4 Shishumar class submarines.

In addition, he will oversee the ongoing construction/development of Arihant and Kalvari class submarines.

Achievements of Sanjay Mahindru

• He was commissioned on 1 January 85 and served 27 years in the Submarine Arm of the Indian Navy.  
• Prior to the present elevation, he commanded a conventional submarine, frigate, destroyer before assuming Command of nuclear submarine INS Arihant, that is expected to be join the forces in 2016.
• Whilst serving ashore, the officer commanded the Navy's Submarine Training Establishment and been a Director at Naval Headquarters in New Delhi.
• He is an alumnus of prestigious College of Naval Warfare and has also completed the Staff Course in the United Kingdom.
