Sports Current Affairs 2011. Chinese World No. 3 Wang Yihan defeated Saina Nehwal in the final Indonesian Open Super Serieson 26 June 2011

Defending champion Saina Nehwal failed to complete the hat-trick of titles at the Indonesian Open Super Series after losing to Chinese World No. 3 Wang Yihan in the final on 26 June 2011.

Fourth seed Saina, who won the title in 2009 and 2010, faltered and suffered a 21-12, 21-23, 14-21 loss to her equally error-prone rival. The contest lasted a little over an hour as a result of Wang's numerous errors of judgments and misplaced shots.

2011 thus continues to be unimpressive year for Saina who had won three titles — Indian Open Grand Prix Gold, Singapore Super Series and Indonesian Super Series in June 2010, before winning the Commonwealth Games gold medal and the Hong Kong Super Series. Till date in the current year 2011, Saina has just one title, Swiss Open Grand Prix Gold to her name.

World No. 1 Lee Chong Wei thrashed Danish veteran Peter Gade to win the Indonesian Open for a third time in the men’s category. The 28-year-old Malaysian defeated the fifth-seeded Gade 21-11, 21-7.
