The Selected Works of Jawaharlal Nehru edited by historian Prof Madhavan Palat
Papers of Jawaharlal Nehru from 1959, edited by historian Prof Madhavan Palat, under the sponsorship of the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library, were released in the month of July 2013. There are three volumes of these papers and more volumes were planned to be released every month. The released material is known as Selected Works of Jawaharlal Nehru.
The Selected Works include letters, notes, accounts of the conversations as well as open press conferences. The series of volumes reveal about Nehru as well as his compositions. It also includes the exchange of letters between Dehradun MP Mahavir Tyagi and Jawaharlal Nehru just prior to Indira Gandhi's election. In the Selected Works, there is also a description about reactions on proposal of Indira Gandhi’s name. Just one day after this letter, i.e. on 2 February 1959, Indira Gandhi was declared as elected after S Nijlingappa withdrew from the race and Kumbha Ram Arya's nomination became invalid.
The Selected Works of Jawaharlal Nehru (1 January - 28 February 1959), Second Series, Volume 46 is edited by Prof Madhavan Palat, who is the Trustee of Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund. The book is the collection of archival documents and primary sources about Nehru. This book is a Part of the Selected Works of Jawaharlal Nehru series.
