Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) on 5 March 2012 hiked the selling price of CNG by 1.70 Rupees per kg in Delhi and 1.90 Rupees per kg in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad. The new rates came into effect from the midnight of 5 March 2012.
With this revision in CNG price the customers in Delhi would have to pay 35.45 Rupees per kg, as against 33.75 Rupees per kg earlier and the NCR customers would have to pay 39.80 Rupees per kg compared to earlier 37.90 Rupees per kg.
A total of about 4 lakh 90 thousand vehicles are plying on CNG, in Delhi-NCR region, of which nearly 50 per cent are commercial vehicles. The commercial vehicles are comprised of 55000 auto rickshaws, 25000 taxis, 10000 gramin sewa, 15000 school buses, 7000 public transport buses and the rest are private automobiles.
