President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari visited Sri Lanka from 27 November 2010 to 30 November 2010. During this visit, Sri Lanka and Pakistan agreed to put forward the dialogue on security and defence issues, including training of armed forces personnel. Besides, Pakistan and Sri Lanka also agreed to hold the 10th session of the Joint Economic Commission, in the first quarter of 2011 for bilateral cooperation in several areas. It was also decided during President Zardari’s visit that Sri Lanka would receive an official level delegation from Pakistan. This delegation along with its Sri Lankan Counterpart would discuss the technical arrangements for the agreements finalised between the two nations. Sri Lanka and Pakistan also condemned terrorism in all its forms. Both nations also decided to increase the number of bilateral level visits between them.
Pakistan had helped significantly Sri Lanka in its war against LTTE. Sri Lankan army personnel had received training in Pakistan at several levels.
