Eight people from the fields of art, literature and culture were awarded the first Tagore Literature Awards-2009 in New Delhi on 25 Jan 2010. The awards were given by Kim Yoon-ok, the First Lady of the Republic of Korea. The award was Instituted by Samsung Electronics and the Sahitya Akademi. The following persons have received this award-

Brajendra Kumar Brahma for - Raithai Hala (Bodo essays)
Bhagwandas Patel for - Mari Lokyatra (Gujarati)
Rajee Seth for - Ghame-Hayat Ne Mara (Hindi short stories)
Naseem Shafai for - Na Thsay Na Akas (Kashmiri poetry)
Chandrasekhar Kambar for - Shikara Soorya (Kannada novel)
Jaswant Singh Kanwal for his autobiography: Punya Daa Chanan (Punjabi);
Kovela Suprasannacharya for - Antharangam (Telugu essays)
