Ebrahim Raisi elected as 8th President of Iran
The ultra-conservative cleric and judiciary chief of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, has been elected as the 8th president of the country. He won 61.95% votes during the election in Iran. Raisi will take up office in early August 2021 and will replace the moderate President Hassan Rouhani.
India received USD 64 billion FDI in 2020
As per the report by the United Nations, India, in 2020, received USD 64 billion Foreign Direct Investment. This made India the 5th largest recipient of FDI inflows globally. The FDI inflow in the country increased by 27% to USD 64 billion in 2020 from USD 51 billion in 2019.
Airborne laser weapon tested by Israel
The military of Israel successfully tested airborne laser weapons that can shoot down drones mid-air. The high-power weapon has been developed by Israel’s Defence Ministry and Defence contracted Elbit Systems Ltd. It will be incorporated soon into the defence system.

Bullet train launched by China in Tibet, near the Indian border
