Harnaaz Sandhu from India has brought home the Miss Universe crown 2021. She won the prestigious beauty pageant after a gap of 21 years. Lara Dutta had won the prestigious beauty pageant back in 2000. In 1994, Sushmita Sen had won the first Miss Universe crown for India.

PM Modi inaugurates Kashi Vishwanath Corridor in Varanasi

PM Modi inaugurated phase 1 of Kashi Vishwanath Dham in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. Kashi Vishwanath Corridor in the poll-bound state has been constructed at a cost of around Rs 339 crores. Kashi Vishwanath Corridor project connects the Kashi Vishwanath temple to the banks of River Ganga in Varanasi.

Supreme Court permits widening of Char Dham Road

The apex court has given approval to the Government of India for double lane widening of the roads for the Char Dham Project. The decision has been taken in light of National security concerns. The ambitious project in Uttarakhand aims at providing all weather-connectivity to four holy towns in the state- Gangotri, Yamunotri, Badrinath, and Kedarnath.

Rohit Sharma, Vice-Captain of the Indian Cricket team, has been replaced by Priyank Panchal in India's Test squad for the South Africa tour. The replacement came in the light of Sharma’s left hamstring injury during his training session in Mumbai. Priyank Panchal is known as one of the best opening batsmen in domestic cricket. Leena Nair of Indian-Origin has become the new global CEO of Chanel, a French Luxury Brand. She was the Chief Human Resources Officer of Unilever. Leena Nair commenced her career at Hindustan Unilever as a management trainee 30 years ago. She will step down from the position at Unilever in January 2022.

Group Captain Varun Singh passes away

The only survivor of the Tamil Nadu Chopper Crash Group Captain Varun Singh succumbed to his injuries and passed away. He was rescued after the IAF chopper crashed in Tamil Nadu that killed CDS Bipin Rawat along with 12 other officials including his wife Madhulika Rawat.

Proposal for raising legal marriage age for women in India approved

The Central Government has cleared a bill to raise the legal marriage age of women in India from 18 to 21 years. The decision came after reviewing a proposal from a specially constituted task force. The latest decision of the government to raise the marriageable age of women will bring the marriageable age of men and women to par.

Durga Puja included in UNESCO list

The famous Kolkata’s Durga Puja has been included by UNESCO in its representative list of 'Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity'. It is a major annual festival that is celebrated most notably in Kolkata, West Bengal, in September or October month. Durga Puja is also celebrated in other parts of India.

PM Modi conferred with highest civilian award of Bhutan

Prime Minister Modi has been conferred with the Highest Civilian Award of Bhutan- Ngadag Pel gi Khorlo. PM Modi’s name was announced for the highly prestigious civilian decoration of Bhutan. The official of Bhutan also highlighted the unconditional friendship between India and Bhutan. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in 1968.

A report on the Foundational Literacy Index 2021 has been released by the Economic Advisory Council to Prime Minister. The latest report is an indicator of literacy among children in India below the age of 10 years in the states as well as Union Territories that are further divided into different categories.
