China's Chang'e 5 lands on moon successfully to bring back lunar rocks to Earth
China's Chang'e 5 probe successfully landed on the Moon on December 1, 2020. The lander will drill into the lunar surface for two days and will collect 2 kgs of rocks and debris. The Chang'e 5 mission was launched by China on November 24, 2020 to bring back the lunar rocks to Earth for the first time since the 1970s.
UK approves Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for use
The United Kingdom on December 2, 2020 granted its approval to the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for use against the COVID-19 pandemic. With this, the UK has become the first country to approve the Pfizer vaccine. The approval was given by British regulator Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).
Entire country may not need COVID-19 vaccine: ICMR Director General
Dr Balram Bhargava, the Director General of Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), on December 1, 2020 stated that the entire Indian population might not need the COVID-19 vaccine; only the critical mass may get vaccinated to break the chain of novel Coronavirus in India.
