1. (a) Rahul Dravid
The BCCI has recommended former India captain Rahul Dravid for the prestigious Dronacharya award and has once again nominated Virat Kohli for the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna honour.

French President Emanuel Macron has announced that the nation will not leave the 2015 Iran nuclear deal and pushed for a comprehensive agreement with Tehran to address US concerns. Macron said that though the 2015 agreement may not address all and important concerns, it should not be abandoned without having something substantial instead.

3. (d) Indu Malhotra
The Union Law Ministry has cleared Indu Malhotra’s appointment to the Supreme Court. With the decision, Malhotra will be the first woman lawyer to be directly appointed from the Bar as a Judge in the Apex Court. She is expected to be sworn into the new position on April 27, 2018.

4. (b) Maharashtra
The Maharashtra government on April 25, 2018 announced the launch of 'Startup Week’ in June 2018. The main aim of the initiative is to encourage and enable the entrepreneurial eco-system. The event, which is to be held between June 25 and 29, will provide the new companies with a platform to showcase their innovative products and services to the state government.

As per World Bank’s Migration and Development Brief, India received the highest remittances of USD 69 billion from its diaspora in 2017. The report was released on April 23, 2018. Indian remittances rose sharply by 9.9 percent in 2017. India had received remittances of USD 68.91 billion in 2015, which fell to USD 62.74 billion in 2016.

Diu Smart City became the first city in India to run on 100% renewable energy during daytime. Diu had been importing 73% of its power from Gujarat until last year. It has now adopted a two-pronged approach whereby a 9 MW solar park spread over 50 hectares rocky barren land has been developed besides installing solar panels on the roof tops on 79 government buildings thereby generating 1.3 MW annually.

The coastal security exercise ‘Sagar Kavach’ was held along Kerala on April 24, 2018 to strengthen and assess the loopholes in the coastal security mechanism. Apart from the Indian Coast Guard, the Indian Navy, Coastal Police and Marine Enforcement wing and various other security stakeholders also participated in the exercise.

The Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) will be tying up with the United States and Finland to develop new pollution-forecast system to anticipate particulate matter (PM) levels at least two days in advance and at greater resolution.
