The indefinite economic blockade was imposed by United Naga Council (UNC) against Manipur on 18 Sept 2010. The blockade was however soon suspended. The blockade was imposed on parts of National Highway 39 and NH-53 in the Manipur section. UNC suspended the blockade there was a glimmer of hope that the Union government would take a sympathetic view of the demands put forth by it. The blockade was lifted temporarily and the future course of action would depend on the response of the Union government to the demands. The UNC demanded the institution of a judicial inquiry into the Mao Gate firing incident, removal of the 'wanted tag' labelled on the two Naga leaders, declaration of the ADCs as null and void and creation of an 'alternative arrangement' for the Nagas living in Manipur. However, it would decide on its future course of action on the basis of the response from the Union government.
