Union External Affairs Minister SM Krishna on 23 February 2012 inaugurated 50th Passport Seva Kendra at Herald House near ITO in central Delhi. The newly inaugurated passport office has been equipped with state-of-the-art facilities which will take less than 45 minutes to complete all the formalities for getting a passport.
The new Passport Seva Kendra, which is one of the 77 Passport Seva Kendras proposed by the government, will provide services similar to the best practices globally. Government in last two years has already established 50 Passport Seva Kendras out of 77 that it had proposed to meet the growing number of passport applications.
The new Passport Seva Kendra, which is one of the largest in the country has been set up in collaboration with TCS. It will process nearly 1,000 applications daily.
