The Union government on 1 March 2012 sanctioned a special package of 130 crore Rupees for the north-eastern state of Arunachal Pradesh. The financial package would be used for the modernization of the police forces in troubled Tirap and Changlang districts of the state.
The 130 crore Rupees package is aimed at improving all the existing police stations and opening of new ones in both the trouble-torn districts. Arunachal Pradesh has completed 25 years as its statehood in 2012.
Arunachal Pradesh holds a higher strategic significance for India as it borders with China, India’s traditional rival. China still claims Arunachal Pradesh as its integral part and both the countries has long been at loggerheads on the border issue.
