Uttarakhand Cabinet approved reconstruction of Kedarnath temple area

Uttarakhand Cabinet on 20 October 2014 approved blue print for reconstruction work around Kedarnath temple and adjoining areas that was destroyed due to floods in 2013. The blue print for reconstruction was prepared by the state disaster management department of Uttarakhand.

It was also decided to assign the rebuilding work around the shrine to the Badri-Kedar temple committee which will implement it in consultation with the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).

The reconstruction work around the temple will be carried out in six phases and also include building a good quality motor road between Rudraprayag and Sonprayag.

No construction work will be allowed within 50 metre radius of the Himalayan shrine and all building operations will be carried out as per recommendations of the Geological Survey of India (GSI).
