1. (c) Operation Ganga
The Government of India launched 'Operation Ganga' to evacuate around 15,000 Indians in Ukraine amid Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The Indian Government will bear the entire cost of the evacuation process of its citizens from war-torn Ukraine. The evacuation is being carried out from neighbouring countries, as Ukrainian air space is closed.
2. (a) Zaporizhzhia
The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Station, located in southeastern Ukraine near the city of Enerhodar, is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe and among the 10 largest in the world. It accounts for about one-quarter of Ukraine’s power generation. The Russians captured the nuclear power plant on March 4, 2022 after intense fighting.

Sanjiv Kapoor has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of Jet Airways. His appointment will be effective from April 4, 2022. Jet Airways are set to restart their operations this summer.

National Science Day is observed every year in India on February 28 to mark a significant discovery by the Indian Physicist Chandrashekhara Venkata Raman in the field of Spectroscopy. The discovery was later named after him and is known as the ‘Raman Effect’. The day aims to recognize the contributions of scientists, whose discoveries have helped the country in marking its place in the world.
5. (a) International Judo Federation
The International Judo Federation has suspended Vladimir Putin as Honorary President and Ambassador of the federation in the light of the ongoing war in Ukraine. The federation has also cancelled its May 20-22 Grand Slam event in Kazan, Russia.

Shane Warne had led the Rajasthan Royals to its fairy tale title win against Chennai Super Kings in the inaugural edition of the IPL in 2008 as their captain. It was the only time the Royals lifted the title. He was appointed as the team mentor of Rajasthan Royals in February 2018.

Madhabi Puri Buch has been appointed as the first woman Chairperson of the market regulator SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India). The former head of ICICI Securities will replace Ajay Tyagi, a 1984 batch IAS officer of the Himachal Pradesh cadre. Madhabi Puri Buch had served SEBI earlier between 2017 and 2021 as a whole-time member.

Indian Railways tested 'Kavach', an automatic train collision protection system on March 4, 2022 by making two trains hurtle towards each other at full speed today, one with the Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and another with Railway Board chairman on board.

World Wildlife Day is observed across the globe on March 3, 2022. The day aims to celebrate and raise awareness of the world’s wild animals and plants. The 2022 theme of the World Wildlife Day is “Recovering key species for ecosystem restoration”.

Rafael Nadal continued his winning streak by beating Cameron Norrie 6-4, 6-4 and winning the men's singles title at Mexico Open 2022. The tennis star had previously won the Australian Open after beating Russian opponent Daniil Medvedev in a grueling final. He, so far, remains unbeaten in 2022.

Sikkim is not a Union Territory and is a state in northeast India, bordered by Bhutan, Tibet and Nepal. The Executive Board (EB) of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) reiterated IOC’s strong condemnation of the breach of the Olympic Truce by the Russian government as well as Belarus government for supporting and helping Russian attacks in Ukraine. The Olympic Truce had begun seven days before the start of the Winter Olympic Games, on 4 February 2022, and is scheduled to end seven days after the closing of the Paralympic Games, which will take place between March 4-13.
