The United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29) is being held in Baku, Azerbaijan. It is being organized from 11 November to 22 November, 2024. The focus of the summit is on finance. Arab countries have proposed a $1.1 trillion annual target, including $441 billion in direct grants from developed countries.

The 9th edition of the Joint Special Forces Exercise Garuda Shakti between the Indian Army and Indonesian Army concluded on 12 November at Mokopassus, Cijantung, Indonesia. Indian Ambassador to Indonesia Sandeep Chakravarti also participated in this exercise.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of AIIMS in Darbhanga, Bihar. It will include a super-speciality hospital/AYUSH block, medical college, nursing college and residential facilities. Along with this, PM Modi laid the foundation stone of several development projects worth Rs 12,100 crore across the state.

The Central Government has extended the tenure of India's Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri till July 14, 2026. Misri took over as Foreign Secretary on 15 July 2024. He is a 1989 batch officer of the Indian Foreign Service. Misri has served in the Ministry of External Affairs, PMO and several Indian missions in Europe, Africa, Asia and North America.

With an aim to promote sports in the country, the world's first high-altitude para sports centre will soon be set up in Leh, Ladakh. For this, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh, and the Aditya Mehta Foundation (AMF).

President of India Draupadi Murmu has nominated Supreme Court Judge Bhushan Ramakrishna Gavai as the new Acting Chairman of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA). Justice Gavai will replace Chief Justice of India Justice Sanjiv Khanna, who previously held the post. As per the convention of NALSA, the post of Executive Chairperson is held by the second senior-most Judge of the Supreme Court of India.

Bollywood star Pankaj Tripathi has recently been appointed the brand ambassador of Madhya Pradesh Tourism Department. Madhya Pradesh is often called the heart of India for its vibrant wildlife, and historical sites. This decision will promote tourism in the state.

Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal inaugurated the 43rd edition of India International Trade Fair (IITF) at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. It is being organised from 14-27 November. Bihar and Uttar Pradesh are partner states at IITF 2024, Jharkhand is the focus state. IITF tickets are available at 55 Delhi Metro stations, DMRC mobile app, ITPO website.

The Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has recently issued a notification to demarcate an area ranging from 1 km to 2.035 km around Sukhna Wildlife Sanctuary on the Haryana side as Eco-Sensitive Zone (ESZ). This is an artificial lake located in Chandigarh.
