The airport, previously known as Maryada Purshottam Shri Ram Ayodhya International Airport, boasts a modern terminal building spanning 6,500 square meters and is equipped to handle 600 peak-hour passengers. With an annual capacity of 10 lakh passengers, the airport is poised to significantly enhance Ayodhya's connectivity and accessibility.
On the day of the inauguration, IndiGo and Air India Express will operate the first flights, marking the official operationalization of the airport. Passengers can expect convenient connections from major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad, commencing in January 2024.

Costs
The first phase of construction, estimated at Rs 1,450 crore, has laid the foundation for future expansion. The second phase plans to include a new terminal building five times larger, capable of handling 3,000 passengers during peak hours and six times the annual capacity, catering to a projected surge in passenger traffic.
Sustainability
Sustainability features are at the core of the airport's design. An insulated roofing system, LED lighting, rainwater harvesting, landscaping with fountains, a water treatment plant, a sewage treatment plant, and a solar power plant are just some of the initiatives aimed at achieving the coveted five-star GRIHA (Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment) rating.
