Who is Maa Kushmanda?

Maa Kushmanda, the fourth incarnation of Goddess Durga. The name "Kushmanda" originates from Sanskrit, with "Ku" translating to "a little," "Ushma" to "warmth," and "Anda" to "cosmic egg." She has eight to ten hands holding a trident, discus, sword, hook, mace, bow, arrow and two jars of Amrut (Elixir) and blood. Her one hand is always on the Abhayamudra, from which she blesses all her devotees. 

What is the story and significance of Maa Kushmanda? 

Goddess Kushmanda is worshipped on the fourth day of Navratri. According to Hindu mythology, when the universe was dark and devoid of existence, Maa Kushmanda created it with her divine smile.

She symbolizes energy and vitality, bestowing devotees with health, strength, and courage. Her significance lies in awakening the dormant energy within oneself and preparing them for the challenges ahead. Worshipping Maa Kushmanda is believed to bring prosperity and success, as she is the source of cosmic energy. Devotees seek her blessings to overcome obstacles and lead a fulfilling life.

One should worship Maa Kushmanda by offering sindoor, mehendi, kajal, bindi, bangles, toe rings, combs, alta, mirrors, anklets, perfume, earrings, nose pins, necklaces, red chunri, mahavar and hairpins. Other than that, malpuas, halwa or curd can be prepared as prasad.
