Election Results 2024: List of Top Winners and Losers from Lok Sabha Election

The Lok Sabha elections have come to their climax, with all eyes on the poll results.
Today is the day that is going to decide the destiny of about 8,000 candidates for 542 Lok Sabha seats in the general elections of 2024.
The country held the elections for 6 weeks this time, and the citizens of India cast about 640 million votes. And oh, the election results this time presented some huge surprises that have shocked the whole nation.

The Lower House of the Parliament has a total of 543 seats. The Bhartiya Janata Party fell short of a total of 272 seats for securing a majority in the Lok Sabha. However, the party still managed to secure a majority with its allies.

Interestingly, the opposition INDIA alliance managed to win 222 seats. This alliance is headed by the Indian National Congress.

While the celebration of democracy ceases in the largest democracy in the world, here we discuss the most significant wins and losses of democracy.

The situation in UP

The result in the state of Uttar Pradesh perhaps has been the most interesting one this time. Since the year 2017, the state has been governed by Bhartiya Janata Party. However, this time, the people of the state chose to write their destiny differently.

The state comprises a total of 80 parliamentary constituencies. Uttar Pradesh stands as the most populous state of the country with a population exceeding 240 million, the result of the state holds great importance for the country. Additionally, it is important to note that both Rahul Gandhi and Narendra Modi have contested elections from distinct constituencies in Uttar Pradesh.

Now, in the year 2019, the NDA managed to secure 64 seats. Interestingly, of these 64 seats, a total of 62 were solely secured by the Bhartiya Janata Party. In 2019, the Congress managed to grab only one seat in the state of Uttar Pradesh, with Samajwadi Party (SP) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) securing five and ten seats respectively.

Coming back to the elections of 2024, the Samajwadi Party secured a total of 37 seats and the Congress party grabbed six seats. This combination secures a total of 43 seats for the INDIA alliance.

How has the result been in West Bengal?

At present, West Bengal is governed by the All India Trinamool Congress party. This party is commonly called as the TMC and stands as a reluctant member party of the INDIA alliance.

In the year 2014, the Bhartiya Janata Party did not perform exceptionally well in the state, but the year 2019 showed some improvement for the party. There are a total of 42 parliamentary seats in West Bengal, and BJP secured 19 in the year 2019. In the same year, the Congress secured two seats and the TMC secured 22 seats.

In the elections of 2024, it has been noted that the TMC secured 29 seats this time in West Bengal, with BJP securing only 12 seats. The rest of the seats have been grabbed by the Congress party in the state.

The results in Kerala

The Bhartiya Janata Party has always tried hard to win in the state of Kerala. Interestingly, the party got lucky this time as Suresh Gopi won just by a margin of 74,686 votes in the constituency of Thrissur. This makes the man the very first Lok Sabha parliamentarian from the BJP in the state of Kerala.

Talking about the Congress party, managed to secure a total of 14 seats in the state.

Results in Maharashtra- a major disappointment for BJP

The Bhartiya Janata Party and its allies did not expect such huge losses in Maharashtra. Interestingly, June 4 was lucky for Congress and its allies with respect to the gains made in the state of Maharashtra.

Yes, the INDIA alliance comprising the Samajwadi Party, Shiv Sena, and the Congress secured 29 seats from the total of 48 seats in the state. The Congress solely secured 13 seats.

What about Karnataka?

In the year 2019, the Bhartiya Janata Party secured a total of 25 seats in the 28 parliamentary constituencies in the state of Karnataka. At this time, the Congress could only manage one seat in the state.

However, the fate of the state has been different this year. While the BJP has won tremendously, it could only secure 17 seats. The Congress secured 10 seats and the JD(S) secured seats in two constituencies of the state.

Karnataka, however, stands very important and dear to the Bhartiya Janata Party, as it is the only state in the south that the party has ever been victorious in.
