A majority of earthquakes in the United States take place in areas that are thinly populated regions lying around the Gulf of Alaska. Many earthquakes also take place in the region of the chain of islands situated in the Bering Sea.

Ever since 1950, the strongest earthquake ever that took place in the United States was that of 1964. The earthquake that took place in 1964 on March 28 in the Alaska region hit with a strong magnitude of 9.2 as per the Richter scale. Not only did the earthquake bring forward devastation on its own, but it also brought with it a huge tsunami. The result of the calamity was great destruction.
It is only the very first month of the new year of 2024, and a few earthquakes have hit already. For instance, a devastating earthquake took place on January 11 holding a magnitude of 5.9 points as per the Richter scale. The location of the earthquake was 80 km south of Sitka (Alaska). The earthquake of January 11 at 22:46 local time. The earthquake came with a depth of over 20 kilometers.
Additionally, multiple aftershocks were also felt in the following days. Two of these aftershocks came with a magnitude of about 2.5. Not to miss, one aftershock was as severe as 3.7 points of magnitude. However, it is important to note that earthquakes like these take place rarely. This seems to be the strongest earthquake till now in the year. The last month of the previous year also saw a severe earthquake of a magnitude of 6.1, which took place over 107 km southeast of Adak.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a few earthquakes have taken place in the United States from 2024 till now.
The most recent one was that of January 22, at local time 9:26 pm, at 29 km south of the Crescent City. The magnitude of the earthquake was 4.3. The depth of the earthquake was 35.68 km.
Next was one that took place on the morning of January 22, at 10:02 am local time. The earthquake came with a depth of 4 km and a magnitude of 3.5. The earthquake took place 108 km northwest of Yakutat.
Before that was the earthquake that took place on January 21 with a magnitude of 3.7 at a depth of 49.87 km. The location of the earthquake was 57 km east of Sand Point.
January 19 also saw an earthquake at exactly 12:34 pm. The earthquake came with a magnitude of 5.3 and a depth of 7.2 km. The location of the earthquake was 43 km southwest of Badger (Alaska). A Tsunami warning was also released for the earthquake.
An earthquake of a magnitude of 4.1 also took place on January 16 at 9:13 am local time. The location of the earthquake was 16 km south-southeastern of Adak, Alaska. The depth of the earthquake was 69.49 km.
