The Oxford Economics Global Cities Index 2024 ranked Delhi at the 350th position. This is not an ordinary matter, as this makes Delhi the highest ranked city in the country. The Oxford Economics Global Cities Index compares 1000 cities of the world.
Talking about some other cities of India. Bengaluru secured the 411th rank while Mumbai secured 427th rank. Not to miss, Sultanpur, a city in Uttar Pradesh, secured the 1000th position.
It is important to note that many cities that are under the control of military and are on the brink of war actually stand above in the rankings than a lot of Indian cities. This can be said in the case of Kyiv, the national capital of Ukraine. This means that the city of Ukraine surpasses Delhi, the highest ranked city of India, in the list.
Which city is ranked the highest on the Oxford Economics Global Cities Index 2024?
New York achieved the 1st rank on the Oxford Economics Global Cities Index 2024. It has scored the highest ranking in all the categories. The second position on the Oxford Economics Global Cities Index 2024 has been secured by London, and the third rank has been secured by San Jose.
The Index and its categories
The Global Cities Index report released on Tuesday. It is actually an annual report that ranks about 1,000 largest cities in the world. These cities span over 163 countries of the world. The ranking is done on the basis of five important categories.
It is on the basis of the scores obtained in these five categories that the index is calculated. The five categories are Economics, Governance, Quality of Life, Environment, and Human Capital.
What about the other Indian cities? Take a look at the list
Mumbai, the Indian city that secured the 427th rank, was actually ranked 915th in the category of quality of life. In the same category, however, Thrissur, a city in Kerala, secured the 757th position.
In the category of Human Capital, Delhi managed to secure the 55th position. However, in the Economics category, Delhi secured the 108th position. In the category of Human Capital, Bengaluru secured the 179th category and in the category of Economics, the city secured the 171st rank.
In the category of Governance, all the Indian cities scored 380.

In Pakistan, Islamabad and Rawalpindi were ranked the highest in the country at the rank of 578.
The Oxford Economics Global Cities Index offers a holistic evaluation of over 1,000 largest cities across the world. Scores are assigned to these 1000 cities in the report, and then, rankings are derived on the basis of these scores. The city that scores the highest secures the score of 100.
