Republic Day 2024: India is celebrating its 75th Republic Day in 2024. Like every year, the celebrations are set to leave a lasting impression, from lavish parades displaying the country's military might to cultural shows showcasing India's rich diversity. The theme for this year's celebration is 'Viksit Bharat' and 'Bharat - Loktantra ki Matruka,' which promises a unique blend of traditions and innovation, with special occasions and attractions to celebrate unity and patriotism.

All First Of Republic Day 2024 Celebration
- All-Women Tri-Services Group: A tri-services ensemble comprised entirely of women will participate in the Republic Day Parade for the first time this year. According to ANI, the organisation consists of female soldiers from the Army's military police as well as staff members from the other two services. Along with women from the other two services, this historic contingent will also feature female soldiers from the Army's military police.
- French Bastille Participant: This year's Republic Day parade will feature Indian Air Force air traffic controller Squadron Leader Sumita Yadav, an alumna of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication. She became popular in July of last year after she participated in Paris's Bastille Day parade. It was also attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the special guest.
- French contingent for R-Day parade: The celebrations will also feature two Rafale fighters, an Airbus A330 multi-role tanker transport aircraft from France, a 95-person marching troupe, and a 33-member music band. Captain Noel Louis, the commander of the French marching troop, also declared that six Indians were members of the French team, CCH Sujan Pathak, CPL Dipak Arya, CPL Parbin Tandan, Gurvachan Singh, Aniket Ghartimagar, and Vikas Djeassegar.
- Anant Sutra: The textile installation titled "Anant Sutra - The Endless Thread" will be installed behind the seated spectators at Kartavya Path. About 1,900 sarees and drapes from all over India will be artistically installed on hardwood frames for this display. Every saree will have a QR code that guests can scan to discover more about the techniques used in the weaving and stitching.

- AI to take space in parade: This year's Republic Day Parade will include a tableau from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology which highlights the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in a variety of fields. The tableau will display a scene of a teacher instructing students using a virtual reality headset to demonstrate AI in operation, the importance of AI in logistics and cattle management is also emphasised.
- Flypast to include French: A French refuel aircraft and two French Rafale aircraft will grace the skies in a flypast. This flypast will showcase new vehicles such as Terrain, Light Specialist, and Special Mobility Vehicles. The Indian Air Force flypast, consisting of 51 planes including ALH Dhruv Rudra, LCH Prachand fighters, helicopters, and transport aircraft, will notably feature 15 women aviators.
- All-Female Artist Troupe: The grand Republic Day parade will showcase 100 female musicians playing Indian musical instruments, such as the Sankh, Naadswaram, Nagada, and others, symbolising the nation's rich cultural variety, growth, and unity.
- Special Inscription: There will be a flypast featuring two French Rafale and a French refuelling plane. New vehicles including Terrain, Light Specialist, and Special Mobility Vehicles will be on display during the flypast. There will be 15 female aviators among the 51 aircraft in the Indian Air Force flypast, which includes transports, ALH Dhruv Rudras, LCH Prachand fighters, and helicopters.
This year, about 13,000 Special Guests have been invited to witness the valour of India. As per the government's vision of Jan Bhagidari, the Defence Secretary said that the aim is to give individuals from all backgrounds a chance to participate in the national holiday. A special focus is also on acknowledging the difficult lives through 'Vibrant Villages' and allowing them to participate in the Republic Day festivities by adding them to the list of Special Guests.
